Are you looking for a tried and true way to lose weight that’s also healthy? Well, you’ve come to the right place!

The tips below will help you shed unwanted pounds all over in just a matter of weeks. The best part is you don’t have to starve yourself or pick up any unhealthy habits. Just incorporate these things into your lifestyle for a guaranteed change:

1. Eat real food! This sounds simple and obvious, but we ALL slack on this. Busy schedules, exhaustion, and convenience cause us to reach for packaged and highly processed foods.

It’s important to put some thought and effort into this if you want to lose weight and maintain a healthy body. Plan ahead and prep meals. Find a rotation of healthy meals that you enjoy so that you can keep things simple, yet have enough variety.

There are healthy meals that can be made within any budget, despite what you may have been led to believe. Even those who hate cooking or aren’t great at it can find ways to make healthy food. Salads, sandwiches, and smoothies, for example, are incredibly easy and anyone can make them.

Experiment & enjoy!

2. Get moving!
Another obvious one, but we can’t stress this enough. You need to get your body moving every single day, no matter how you do it.

Ideally, you want to have a balanced workout schedule that incorporates cardio and strength training, but if you have a hard time following exercise routines or your schedule is too crazy to do more than 15 minutes of exercise a day, just make it count.

Too busy? Try HIIT or Tabata routines.

Hate exercise routines? Go on a brisk walk, hiking, running, swimming, take up a sport, dance around, jump on a trampoline! There are many possibilities.

Little things that anyone can do to improve their physical activity is take the stairs instead of the elevator, try to walk or bike instead of driving as much as possible, and try not to sit down for more than 1 hour at a time without a break. Small adjustments add up to big results!

3. Eat slowly & chew thoroughly! We often speed through our meals because we’re in a hurry or we waited too long to eat. If you take time to chew your food, enjoy every bite, and slow down overall, your body and brain will be more in sync. It takes about 20 minutes for your brain to receive a signal that you are full, so if you don’t stuff your face quickly, you’re more likely to avoid overeating.

4. Vary your exercise schedule.
If you do different types of workouts or physical activities every day, you avoid getting bored, hitting workout plateaus, and burning out. Adding variety to your fitness regimen is one of the most effective ways to stay motivated and on track.

5. Cut down on carbs. Lower your carb intake and try to stick to complex carbs such as quinoa, brown rice, couscous, oat meal, and whole wheat/grains. White flour, pasta, or rice are essentially empty calories that may be filling and delicious, but ultimately contribute to weight gain and cause other health problems.

6. Get good rest.
It’s so easy to skimp on sleep in this hectic world. Find the time if you care about your health and want to see a trim waistline. Get at least 7 hours of sleep a night to make sure your body and mind are recovering from the day, including your exercises! Lack of sleep raises stress levels and causes your body to store fat. It also makes you lose focus and motivation which are necessary for any kind of productivity, including sticking to a fitness routine.
