Bad days happen, but they don’t have to get the best of you. Here are 11 effective and simple ways to turn a bad day around!
Head outside
Take in some fresh air, soak up the sun and take in some greenery and flowers. Find a bench or a park to take 15 minutes to revitalize yourself.
Stay hydrated
When you’re having a bad day it’s easy to neglect your basic needs. Keep a glass or a bottle of water handy, and make sure you’re drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
Write a list of 5 things you love about yourself
You have so many awesome qualities! Write them down and stick them in a notebook or in a drawer where only you can see it. Refer to the list whenever you’re feeling less than amazing.
Run an errand
Take a few minutes to pick up a little something that will boost your mood. Buy a tiny succulent, a new pen, or a magazine you’ve had your eye on.
Try a new recipe
Give yourself something to look forward to by finding a new comfort food recipe to try out. Invite a friend over and end the night with good food and conversation.
Take a mini break from social media
Log out of all of your social media – even if it’s just for the afternoon. Scrolling through everyone’s fabulous highlight reel of their day isn’t going to make you feel any better about yourself.
Give yourself a micro mirror affirmation.
The mirror doesn’t lie. You’re a total babe and you’re killing it. Give yourself a nod, a wink and a smile – you’re doing great!
Organize and sanitize your work space.
Refresh your office or desk and breathe new life into your workspace. You’ll feel energized and ready to conquer anything!
Have a cozy, comforting drink
Grab a delicious cup of coffee or cozy cup of tea and let the warmth fill you up.
Get the weight off your shoulders
Tackle a task you’ve been putting off. Pay a bill, return a phone call or respond to an e-mail you’ve been putting off. Getting a task done will give you a sense of accomplishment while removing one thing from the many things you have on your to-do list.
Practice a random act of kindness
Hold the door for someone, give someone a compliment, or offer your seat to someone on the subway. Spreading kindness can go a long way when you’re feeling down.
