“In recent years, Chile’s more remote, activity-led destinations and excursions have become a key reason to consider the country for a getaway. Patagonia and Atacama are must-see destinations, especially Tierra Patagonia — a stunning hotel set on the edge of Lake Sarmiento — and Alto Atacama — known for its spectacular views for stargazing,” says David Warne, Product and Commercial Director of Wexas Travel.

Travel writer, Natasha Huang Smith states, “I believe the hottest destination for 2018 will be Tokyo, because any time of year is an incredible time to go. As they begin to prep for the 2020 Olympics, there’s already a special buzz about the place. It’s one of the most sensory overloaded places on Earth, but in the best way possible. The politeness of the people and the culture is something you have to see to believe—it’s literally a utopian society fueled on delicious sushi and incredible, unique fashion.”

2018 will be the year of heading North to see the Northern Lights. Airlines have been dropping rates, allowing for greater, more affordable travel to popular locations in Norway, Lapland and Iceland to see the Northern Lights.
Chief Editor of travel site, HolidayPirates, Niahmh Walsh, says, “…people are definitely eschewing the normal, sunny holiday destinations in favour of something more out-of-the-box…Seeing the Northern Lights is something adventurous travellers will find easier to do in 2018. Until recently, it’s always been difficult and expensive to access many of the regions where they’re at their brightest and most beautiful…this extra special experience should not be missed”.

Laos
“Pretty much all of Asia fascinates me, and while I’ve seen a decent bit, there’s so much more I hope to make time for next year, specifically Japan, India and Laos. They’re completely unique countries that have fascinated—and overwhelmed—me from afar, and I would love to spend a significant amount of time in each to ensure I experience them in their beautiful, diverse glory.” says Romeyn.
