How to Cope with Your Changing Body

Your body is constantly changing. Each day, its cells and tissues regenerate. Aging, diet, hormone levels, pregnancy, and other factors influence these changes. One day you can look and feel fabulous, and the next day you feel fat. These fluctuations are perfectly normal and shouldn’t be a concern. Accept your body the way it is and learn to cope with the changes it goes through.

Fluid Retention
Water retention is a major concern for most women. Some gain up to five pounds from one day to another despite eating well and staying active. A high-sodium diet, PMS, hormonal imbalances, stress, prolonged sitting, and poor sleep may cause fluid retention. However, this process is normal, so there’s nothing to worry about.

Most times, your body gets rid of excess water through sweat and urine. Unless you have a medical condition, there’s no need to take diuretics or diet pills. A good night’s sleep and a low sodium diet should fix this problem.

Bloated Stomach
The size of your belly depends on what you eat and drink. Certain foods, especially those high in fiber, can expand your stomach. The way your belly looks doesn’t reflect your workout progress. Its appearance is influenced by various factors, such as water retention, digestion, and menstruation. Learn to see the difference between belly bloating and belly fat.

The Pump
Another common concern among women is the so-called “pump.” Many ladies feel big after a workout. When you lift weights, your heart pumps blood to the working muscles, making them look fuller. However, they return back to their normal size a few hours later or the next day. This actually shows that you’ve worked your muscles really hard. Don’t worry if your jeans don’t fit right after training your legs. They will look perfect on you a few days later!
