Glitter roots, glitter beards and glitter brows – glitter lovers know that glitter is more than a trend – it’s a lifestyle. From doughnuts to latte’s and lips, there’s no limit to the number of ways that this magical trend can be incorporated into everyday life. It’s always a thrill to discover the inventive ways that fashion and food enthusiasts will make the most of these sparkles–and now breweries are getting in on the fun too.
Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day breweries across the nation are popping up with sparkly beer creations. Breweries like Bold Missy Brewery in Charlottesville, North Carolina; Three Weavers Brewing Company in Inglewood, California; and Ska Brewing in Denver, Colorado have all created shimmery versions of a concept that began with brewmaster Alex Nowell of Three Weavers Brewing Company.

Nowell’s glittery IPA- ‘Mel’s Sparkle Pony’- led the way for other breweries to create other glitter-infused drinks. Bold Missy’s Lisa Frank inspired drink (the ‘Trapper Keeper’) features lemon and pink peppercorn saison and Two Birds Brewing Company’s ‘Stardust IPA’ pays homage to David Bowie.
As delightful as these fun little pints are to look at, many people have expressed their concerns, regarding the safety of drinking edible dust. The glitter dust used in the drinks is often found in baked goods and it’s readily available on Amazon.
Will you be trying out one of these instantly Instagrammable drinks at your local brewery?
