Best & Basic Ways to Improve Metabolism

You may think that you’re doomed to having poor metabolism due to genetics or that simply exercising more and/or improving your diet will change things. But the truth is, it’s not that simple.

Things like sleep, hormones, and even thyroids effect metabolism.

So what can you do to make sure yours is on the right track?

Here are some tips:

Focus on yourself. The first and most important thing you should do to start developing healthy habits and behaviors is to stop comparing yourself to other people. We’re all different. We come in various shapes and sizes, and all we can do is make sure that we’re performing OUR best.

Regular sleeping pattern. Yep, we’re bringing up sleep again. It’s one of the most important factors. Keeping a regular sleep schedule will also regulate your metabolism. Plus, getting enough rest keeps you focused which leads to more productivity & motivation when it comes to accomplishing goals.

Chill out. Stress can wreak havoc on the body. It not only increases the chances of stress eating and indulging in other unhealthy, temporarily satisfying behaviors, it also messes with your hormones. So do your best to find some time to unwind and relax.

Know yourself. It’s important to figure out what’s best for you and your body. Everybody has different needs and goals. Figure out how many calories you should be consuming per day to lose or maintain weight. Pay attention to how you feel after eating certain foods. Make sure you’re eating the right foods and the right AMOUNT of food each day. Get all your essential nutrients, keep your body active, and keep it consistent.

Build strength. Strength training boosts your metabolism and helps you burn more calories. Keep your body strong – there are so many benefits, both physical and mental!

Curb the carbs. Keep your carb consumption to a minimum. Eat more protein to fuel your body, keep you full longer, and burn fat quicker.

Keep it balanced. Keep your plate balanced. Make sure you’re getting the right amount of nutrients each day to increase your metabolism, reduce inflammation, increase energy, and improve mental health.

Try different exercises such as HIIT and Tabata that burn calories even after you complete your workout. Journaling is also a great way to keep track of what you eat and figure out what isn’t working. There are many things you can do to improve your metabolism, but if you’ve tried absolutely everything and you’re still struggling, it may be time to speak with your doctor. You want to make sure there isn’t something dangerous or out of your control going on that’s contributing to the problem.
