Vegans and vegetarians are well acquainted with the struggle to find non-meat options on the menus of most fast food joints. The problem is so widespread that many vegans and vegetarians avoid fast food restaurants due to the lack of appropriate food items that can fit their diets. McDonald’s is catching on to the growing popularity in vegan and vegetarian diets, and becoming more attuned to the needs of diners and customers that they are potentially missing out on.
McDonald’s has rolled out the McVegan – a soy based burger, topped with tomato and lettuce, pickles, onion, ketchup and mustard. The burger will be available October 4th – November 21.
Currently, the McVegan is only available in Finland where customers are already expressing their excitement and approval of the new menu item. If the preliminary testing for the burger continues to be successful, McDonald’s may roll it out to the U.S.
