Rock hard abs are not just for men anymore! Look around any gym, or even on social media and you will see that women all over the world are working hard to sculpt their mid-sections!

Unfortunately, it is harder for women to obtain shredded abs, but with the right exercises and diet (and a lot of effort), you can rock a six pack, too.

One thing to keep in mind is that spot reduction does not work. You can’t lose fat in just one area, you have to work your body from head to toe with plenty of cardio to shed fat all over, gradually.

Abs & core exercises will help with toning, sculpting, and trimming, but if you skip the cardio and/or don’t keep your diet clean, you’ll never get the abs you’re dreaming of.

Below you can find some tips to help you get cut and carved!

1. Yes, abs & core exercises!

Here are a few moves from one of our many workouts that you can access when you join our weight loss challenges:

2. SKIP the sugary drinks!

Soda and other sugary drinks (yes, even fruit juices!) contain empty calories and are loaded with additives. These calories add up fast and can harm your body in more ways than one. Aside from the dreaded weigh gain, you also run the risk of diabetes, mood swings, and various cancers.

3. DON’T SKIP meals!

You may be tempted to skip a meal here and there, or maybe you’re just too busy to eat. But that needs to stop. Make time to feed your body healthy, nutritious food that will fuel you throughout the day and help you build lean muscle.

4. STICK TO whole foods

Avoid highly processed foods as much as possible. Frozen and packaged food is often loaded with sodium and other additives that can be deceptively damaging to your health.

Foods that are high in sugar or fat, or are fried are also a big NO if you want to keep your tummy trim, and yourself healthy. Stay away from that stuff as much as possible!

Stick to lean meats, whole grains, fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds….you know, real food!

5. HYDRATE!

I know, seems super basic, right? You’d be surprised how often people forget to do it though!

Even the slightest dehydration can effect your ability to exercise, focus, and perform your everyday activities. In the long run, dehydration can lead to premature aging, chronic fatigue, and weight gain.

The more active you are, the higher your intake should be. Keep at a bottle at hand at all times.

Drinking water before meals or during meals helps with digestion, and keeping you full so that you don’t overeat.

6. GET some rest!

Sleep is one of the most important yet overlooked factors involved in weight loss. Your body needs proper rest to recover from stress and function optimally. Catching more Z’s can boost your metabolism, “reset” your appetite, and prevent binge eating.
